Default Jimmy's '94 UrS4

On Wednesday, I finally took delivery of my 1994 Audi S4. What a mess. Let's run it down:

The Basics:
  • Black on Black (Walnut Trim)
  • 143,000 miles
The Good:
  • Very clean. Cosmetically, this car was meticulously cared for and is about as nice as a 14 year old car can get.
  • Lightly modded (chip and suspension).
  • Fuel line recall done.
The Bad:
  • Mechanically neglected. For as well as this car was kept clean, it did not see much in the way of regular, routine maintenance that I can see. More on this in a minute.
  • I don't particularly care for the Moda R6 wheels.
The Verdict:
  • This is going to be a very nice car, when I am finished with it (and that could be awhile).

This car is not a basket case, by any means, but it drives like it was a car that just sat neglected for a couple of years. I wouldn't have guessed that this was somebody's daily driver. Right away I had to top it off with two quarts of oil! That's bad. Also, two of the tires were under-inflated by 10 lbs, several of the dashboard lights are out, the mirror control doesn't work, the driver's window is failing, the Pentosin reservoir was low, the windshield washer fluid reservoir was low, the brake pad warning light is on, and there was a boost leak.

Today, I went after the boost leak. It could only be one of half-a-dozen hoses and one of those is silicone (so unlikely to be the culprit). I figured that it must be the hose that is most difficult to reach. Sure enough, I pulled the turbo-to-crossover hose and saw this:

Luckily, I still had a spare from my last UrS4! I replaced the hose, checked the spark plugs (they were over-torqued), buttoned everything back up, and went for a test drive. Now that is more like it! It pulls very well, though not quite as strongly as my '93. James said that he soldered the chips into this ECU, but he didn't mention installing another transducer, which means the ECU is most likely still using the factory 2.5 bar transducer. So, the car is probably making something like 265-270 hp...

...for now. Muhwahahaha!!!

So what I am hearing you say is that in a matter of two weeks, Shawn was to blame for bringing your car to mechanical ruins

Not just my car - apparently Shawn has it out for all UrS cars. He has destroyed almost all of them in the city, in just the past month! He is a sleeper agent!

Just kidding, Shawn isn't to blame for any of this stuff (although when the oil light goes on during a hard corner - put oil in the car!)

Speaking of all the UrS cars in the city, my wife just reported that she just saw another one on the way home from work. It was at the light at 620/2222 going across 620 towards Volente. She said it was black, was completely debadged, but had the Audi "football" logo on the side trim. It also had the square donut headrests, which eliminates the UrA4 and anything newer. Anybody know this car?

Obi-Wan: That boy is our last hope.
Yoda: No. There is another.

Jimmy it is running the stock 2.5bar. Stage 1 only.
Your estimate on HP is probably dead on. The BPV in the car was the one from my Rally car as Eds was dead when we chipped it and it was obvious from the turbo noise his BPV was stuck shut.

There is one other black urs4 in Austin. Total of 3.
Don't know who drives this other car. Ive typically seen that car at 2222 and 360 area. so he's up by you.

We should make big signs with our club info and leave it in our back seats. Whenever we run into one of those mystified cars on the road, we'll furiously wave the signs around in the hopes that they'll pull over in fear of their lives. Then we'll get them to sign on the dotted line, and officially join our club

Thanks for the info, James. I checked BPV function and it is working fine.

I'll keep my eyes open for that other UrS.

Jimmy and James, I am guessing the 3rd one was me in Ed/ Jimmy's car and not a third car I do drive 2222/360 but I too will be on the look out! There is a CLAPPED OUT A6 that is in the area but unless you were far away or it was very dark, there is no way you would have mistaken it for an S6

No there is a 3rd black UrS4 in town.
I've seen it several months ago and it wasn't You or Ed. Just like Kim it was debadged except for the blue S logo on the front grill.

S logo on my car is red! I'll keep my eyes open for it.

Yeah, but the RS2 badge is red and blue. An RS2 badge on the grille and a debadged trunk hints at an enthusiast. Let's keep our eyes peeled for this rarely seen, almost mythical, Loch "S" Monster. LOL, I crack myself up.
